About the Event
Race Details
This is the 10th Annual Rail Trail 10K Race and the Road Runners Club of America Eastern Region 10K Championship. The race starts at 8 AM on a 100% Rail Trail course, offering a flat and picturesque out-n-back run through Fall's natural beauty with no cars or street crossings.
Venue: New Haven / Northampton Railroad Canal Line Main Parking Lot, 4340 Farmington Heritage Canal Trail, Hamden, CT. 06518
Hydration stations with Poland Spring Water & Gatorade Endurance will be available at Mile 2.4 and 3.6. A course map is available on Strava.
Entrant Information
All entrants receive Men's & Women's Cut Short Sleeve Tech T-shirts and a choice of custom 3” Finisher Medals. Results will be texted, emailed, and live-streamed. Awards will be given to the top 3 Men and Women overall and in all 5-year age divisions. Porto-Lets are available at the venue, and FREE downloadable race photos and finisher certificates are provided by EliteFeats.
Timing and Results
Transponder Timing and Results with “Gun” and “Net” time. Awards are based on gun time. Results will be live-streamed and emailed/texted upon finishing.
Cutoffs and Early Starts
There are no time cutoffs and no early starts for this race.
History
The race debuted in 2017 and has since become a significant event, including serving as the RRCA State Championship in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The 2026 event marks the 10th Anniversary and the Eastern Region Championship Race.
Pricing Structure
- 10/19/2025 - 12/31/2025: $55
- 1/1/2026 – 10/1/2026: $60
- 10/3/2025: $65 (In-Person Registration - Cash, Venmo, Checks made out to "CASH" only. No Cards on race day)
Transfer & Deferral Info
Registrations can be transferred to another athlete until 9/3/2026 for $25 (online via Active). Entries can be deferred to the 2027 Race until 9/3/2026 for $25 (via Venmo to ShorelineSharks and email [email protected]). Both are hard deadlines with no exceptions.

- 8:35am: First Finishers
- 10:00am: Final Finishers & Venue Closed
Parking
Plenty of parking is available at all Rail Trail lots and on the street (where legal). No parking at the Dunkin Donuts / Amity Liquors Lot.
