Alger Heights Halloween 5k

The Alger Heights Halloween 5k is a volunteer-led, neighborhood-focused 5k fun run. It's a 'small town in a big city' event that seeks to include all individuals and support the betterment of our local community. Participants can run, jog, walk, or stroll in their best costume. The event includes chip timing for all 5k participants as they run through the scenic Alger Heights neighborhood during peak fall colors.

This is the 14th edition of the event, taking place on Saturday, October 31st, 2026.

In addition to the 5k, there will be a Community Costume Contest (no race registration necessary) and a Neighborhood Cheer Contest open to residents along the route. Prizes will be awarded for costumes and neighborhood cheering sections.

Awards: The event offers men's, women's, and non-binary divisions. Metals and sponsor prizes are available for top 3 overall winners in each division and specific age categories. Awards ceremony begins around 10:45 AM.

Results: Accurate chip times and overall/age group places will be texted and available live on the website, professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.

Parking: Free parking is available, but participants should honor posted signs and respect residents' access. Parking is not allowed along the course from 8 AM to Noon.
