About the Event
Ballymuns Backyard Ultra – Event Rules
Welcome to Ballymun’s Backyard Ultra! Here’s a breakdown of how the race works:
- The course is a 500m asphalt track where each competitor must complete 13 loops (plus a few meters) to total the 6.7 kms needed to complete the "Yard" and each runner has 1 hour to complete it.
- Runners must return to the start line before the next hour begins to continue.
- The race repeats every hour, on the hour, until only one runner is left standing.
- The final runner must complete one extra loop after all others have stopped to be declared the winner. If no one finishes that last loop, there is no winner.
Key Rules to Keep in Mind:
- Complete each loop within the hour.
- All runners start at the same time each hour—no early or late starts.
- No outside assistance is allowed during the loop (only between loops).
- If you don’t make it back to the start line in time for the next lap, you’re out.
This is a true test of endurance—physically and mentally. The goal is to see how far you can push yourself. Good luck, and let’s find out who will be the last one standing at Ballymun’s Backyard Ultra!
