Looking for an amazing run to experience the “upper elevations” of the Big Island? Join us on August 16th, 2025 for Big Island Road Runners fun run up Mauna Loa Access Road off Hwy 11 in the Volcano area. 7:00 am start. Start at about 4000 foot elevation at the parking lot for “Bird Park” participants will run or walk up paved road through beautiful Koa forest to the top….. or not! Go as far as you like – your choice. Just get it done in 4 hours 😊 Starting point to top is approximately 10 miles, so 20 miles round trip – if you’re ambitious. Big Island Road Runners will have a few aid stations set up along the route and snacks at the bottom for when you finish. There will be sign up day of race between 6:30 to 6:50. Free to BIRR members - discount given when you register. $10 donation for non-members.
