About the Event
Bob Gurtler Memorial 5K Run/Walk
This run is in memory of Bob Gurtler, former mayor of the Plains, chemical engineer (rocket scientist) and life long runner. As a member of many running clubs. He mentored many beginning runners, supported the running community, and advocated for the health and well being of all. The race starts at 8am at Grace Episcopal Church in the Plains, Va. and proceeds through town and down to Hopewell road. It continues to the halfway point and returns on the same course back to the church where it finishes. All proceeds go to the local food pantry, Peas & Grace.
