CWES - Standley Cabin Eagle Cap Wilderness
- Trail Run
- 80 km
- 60 km
The Cascadian Wilderness Endurance Series events offer outdoor enthusiasts the chance to participate in a multimedia adventure blogging contest in the Wallowa Lakes Eagle Cap Wilderness. These self-supported/unsupported events are open to trail runners, backpackers, fastpackers, and hikers, with each event featuring a unique and defined route to complete on foot. Unlike traditional races, there are no course markings or aid stations, allowing participants to create their own adventure.
After finishing the route, participants are encouraged to share their experience through various multimedia platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or other artistic endeavors. Each year, a meetup is held in Seattle to wrap up the previous year, make announcements, and hand out awards and prizes.
The Wallowa Lakes Eagle Cap Wilderness Loop starts and ends at the south end of Wallowa Lake, taking participants through the best highlights of the Wallowa Mountains, including the Lakes Basin and near Eagle Cap. The route includes two high passes and plenty of water along the way.
The registration fee helps cover website maintenance, domain registration, and trail maintenance donations. The goal is to get people out into the wilderness areas of the Northwest, build a community of adventurous individuals, and empower people to explore and protect these areas for the future.
