Event Description

This event was created for those who want to get back to basics: just you and some new friends exploring our backyard trails and ridges. You should be prepared to fend for yourself for a long, challenging day out in the mountains. Minimal aid. No course markings. Think a mini-Plain. If you don't know what Plain is, this event isn't for you.

Course Description

51.3 miles with somewhere between 10,100' and 11,300' of climb, depending on the mapping software. See route and profile here: https://www.strava.com/routes/3391318183479709688 Or, here: http://www.hillmap.com/m/ag1zfmhpbGxtYXAtaGRychULEghTYXZlZE1hcBiAgIDF7qCsCww

Starting out of Roslyn, this burly trail 50 connects Cle Elum Ridge with Sasse Ridge, summitting Hex, Sasse and Jolly Mountains, then descends down Jolly Creek to the Middle Fork of the Teanaway River, which you'll follow down towards its confluence with the West Fork of the Teanaway River. From there, you'll grab the Big Sandy Trails back up to the top of Cle Elum Ridge before returning to Roslyn, hopefully in time to grab dinner from one of Roslyn's fine dining establishments.

Event Details, Aid Offerings, Tracking, Refund Policy, Sponsors, Swag

Start is the southeast corner of the Roslyn Pioneer Park, where the Coal Mines Trail enters the woods across from N. 3rd St and W. Washington Ave. There is a bathroom adjacent to the start. Aid station offerings: Water is provided. There will be basic caloric offerings as well, but think of this as a little bonus to your self-supported kit. Tracking: GPX tracks of the course will be emailed at least one week before the event, which you must pre-load into the map app of your choice. You must use them to track your own progress during the event. There will be no little orange ribbons to hold your hand out there. Refund: I will refund the entirety of your entry fee should you not be completely satisfied with your experience. Refunds will be via PayPal or venmo. Sponsors: Maybe next year, but probably not. Swag: Surprise swag directly from the course.

Other Requirements

Pre-req is a hard trail 100k or longer, which you'll need to name for entry. You'll be required to carry an inReach or similar satellite messenger with an active subscription. More details to follow, but your official finish time will be contingent upon providing selfies at the summit of Jolly Mtn (to prove you did the out-n-back), as well as a few other random spots along the course. You'll also need to submit your gpx track to confirm you covered the entirety of the course.
