Downtown Sundown 5K

Join us to run the streets and trails of Blacksburg at sunset! Prizes awarded under the stars! The Downtown Sundown 5k Race is part of Summer Solstice Festival and is the 5th race in the 2025 RunAbout Race Series presented by Roots Realty Group, Skip Slocum & Associates. Race starts at 8pm. Run in the night with the sunset at 8:42pm. Participants are encouraged to wear glowsticks, lights, and/or reflective clothing.

Race Day Schedule (Saturday June 21st)

• 6pm to 7:50pm - Packet Pickup at the Alexander Black House Lawn on Draper Rd
• 7:45pm - Race registration closes
• 8:00pm - Race start on Draper Rd behind the Town Municipal Building

You can pick up your race packet at RunAbout Sports from 3pm to 7pm on Friday the 20th.

Awards

Overall: Top 3 male and female finishers will receive an award. The first male and female masters (40+) and grand masters (50+) will receive an award. Age group: Top 3, male and female, in the following categories: below 16, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29,30-34, 35-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+. Runners are eligible for one award, which will be determined in the following order of priority: overall, masters, grand masters, age group. Awards will not be mailed.

• Saturday June 21st - 6pm to 7:50pm - Race day packet pickup at the Alexander Black House lawn on Draper Rd

Course Information

The 5K course loops from downtown through Blacksburg on roads and paved footpaths. The start/finish line is located at the Town of Blacksburg Municipal building near the intersection of Draper Road and Washington Street. There is an aid station just past mile 2 offering water. No animals on the course during the race, headphones are discouraged and strollers/ baby joggers need to start at the back.
