GR-8H Trail Race

Same GREAT race with a new date and place. Our race location will move to a less technical and longer trail that is managed by the rangers at Gamble Rogers Memorial Recreation Area, called North Peninsula Park. This is for several reasons: 1. The technical nature of the previous course has dissuaded some from participating; 2. The love for this course by the RD for its history to her other races, and brother's memorial bench located here has made me still want to stay affiliated with the park; 3. The new location will still afford access to campground, area for tent city, real restroom facilities, beauty and as mentioned above outstanding park support.

The duration of the race will still remain 8 hours enjoyed via a beautiful 2 mile loop. We also will have a 5k race for those who want to have some fun on the trail while their loved ones run longer and for younger ones. Those wishing to get their first ultra distance under their belt will have eight hours to do so. Also it is a good race for others to get in long runs for upcoming events or various distance PR's.

The time for the 8 hour race will be from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. With the 5k kicking off at 8:15 am.

Another change for this year will be that the race will no longer be held in January. After five years it has been realized that this is not a good month for all to come run a race, with holidays being so close and MANY other Florida races on this date. Therefore our new race date will be the third Saturday of March. This year that date is March 14th, 2026.

This makes it a perfect training race for Keys 100 or other later spring/early summer races. We hope you will be able to join us for this one of a kind event, on a beautiful, NON Technical slightly rolling single track, trail nestled between the intra-coastal waterway and ocean.
