Course Description

The Gunstock Mountain Snowshoe Race is about 8K in length and will take runners along groomed Nordic trails and through the woods on challenging single track. The race starts in the Stadium and climbs Cobble Mountain Loop toward Maple, where runners will encounter groomed Nordic trail. As runner progress deep into the Gunstocks Trail system, they will encounter steep climbs and descents. From Maple runners will turn onto Birch and descend back to Cobble Mountain Loop, a brief lollipop around the Rock-Loop will give them views of the snow-covered bog and Belknap Range. Racers will rejoin the Cobble Mountain Loop and take a sharp left into the woods and head up Cobble Crown Mountain on the Cobble Snowshoe trail where they will encounter challenging single track on the ascent and descent. Once runners merge back onto the groomed trail at the junction with Outlook they will begin their descent back to the Stadium. From the Overlook trail they will turn on to Crossbow taking that trail down to its junction with Quiver. Runners will turn left on Quiver and finish running back into the Stadium. The course will be marked with orange pin flags, which will always be on the runner's right, red arrows in the snow and with Nordic barriers.

Parking

Parking is available at the Nordic Center or in the dirt lot behind the Nordic Center, which can be accessed by turning on to Area Road (the first right after passing the Nordic Center). Please DO NOT PARK along the access road. Please use caution when crossing the access road between the Nordic Center and the Nordic Stadium and race start.

Awards

The top three finishers Male and Female finishers will receive awards along with the top male and female finisher in each age category (10 year increments).

Rental Snowshoes

A limited number of Dion 121 and 132 Snowshoes will be available on a first come, first serve basis to rent for the duration of the race for $5.00. Rentals can be obtained before the race start in the Nordic Center beginning at 8 AM on race day.
