Description

The Hellbender 100 is designed to showcase the stunning beauty of the mountainous terrain of Western North Carolina. Runners will navigate through challenging trails that lead to the summit of Mt. Mitchell, the highest mountain east of the Mississippi River. The event is not just a test of endurance but also a celebration of community and the great outdoors.

Registration Information

Registration will close on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET. The race has a waitlist policy allowing participants to join without upfront fees until they are accepted from the waitlist.

Qualification

Participants must have completed a 100k trail run with at least 10,000 feet of vertical gain or any 100 miler between May 1, 2023, and May 1, 2025. Alternatives include the Mount Mitchell Heartbreaker 50 miler.

Additional Information

The event is a qualifier for both the Hardrock 100 and Western States 100. Runners are required to carry specified gear for their safety during the race.
