About the Iwakuni Friendship Relay Marathon

Looking for an opportunity to strengthen relationships with family members, friends, colleagues, or neighbors? Join the Iwakuni Friendship Relay Marathon. Teams of 4-15 Runners run a 1.4KM relay course for 3 hours and compete for the most laps to win prizes. No team? No problem, register individually and we’ll place you on a Japanese team! This year, we are also looking for on-base personnel to join local Japanese teams, whether you sign up individually or with friends, we’ll match you or your group with a Japanese team. Come run with our community, it’s a great opportunity to make new friends!

Qualifications

Age 6 and older who can run a lap without parental support. Participants are not permitted to run carrying a child in their arms, on their backs, or using baby carriers. Jogging Strollers are not permitted. Runners who are blind or with disabilities are welcome to participate in the race and must have a partner to provide assistance. However, service dogs and wheelchairs are not permitted on the running course.

Registration fees and instructions

Ages 19 & older: ￥2,000 per runner
Ages 16-18: ￥1,500 per runner
Ages 6-15: ￥1,000 per runner
Team captain, or representatives of individuals who want to run with a Japanese team, must sign up on Eventbrite, then complete registration by submitting the registration form and paying the total participant fees in cash, Japanese yen only, with the exact amount to the staff at the Lotus Cultural Center.
