About the Event

About the Event

The Light Up the Night 5K is more than just a race—it’s a chance for the community to come together in support of one of its own. Join us as we Light Up the Night for Captain Shane Henson, a dedicated member of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office who has faithfully served the community for more than 30 years. Captain Henson was involved in a serious automobile accident, and this event aims to support his family during this life-altering time.

The Dawson County Parks and Recreation Department invites the entire community to come out for this event. Whether you run, walk, or simply come out to show your support, this event is an opportunity for friends, neighbors, and supporters to stand together and help lift up the Henson family.
