Description: 🚴 Race Write-Up: General Herkimer Home Out-and-Back Ride to Lock 16. 🌿 Out and Back The route follows the Empire State Trail, offering a mix of paved and stone dust surfaces. Please note that if there is rain the day of or before, there will be some muddy spots. Cyclists pass historic landmarks like Indian Castle Church, glided through quiet woodlands, and enjoyed sweeping views of the canal and valley. The trail’s gentle elevation and long stretches made for a smooth, fast-paced ride to the turnaround point at Lock 16. 🏁 Finish Line & Festivities Back at the Herkimer Home, riders were greeted with cheers, refreshments, and a chance to explore the historic grounds. Be sure to check out the other events taking place during the Little Falls Canal Celebration throughout the city! 🎉 Event Highlights Total distance: ~16.5 miles round trip Terrain: Mixed paved and stone dust trail Atmosphere: Friendly, scenic, and rich with local history You will receive a pint glass to celebrate your completion of this ride.
