About the Event

Mississippi River Marathon

The Mississippi River Marathon offers the only marathon in the Mississippi Delta and a variety of opportunities that no other race in the world can offer. Our goal is first, for people across the nation, especially in the Delta communities, to get excited about healthy lifestyles by supporting and participating in our running events. Second, this marathon was created to help all children receive an excellent education by donating funds raised to the Washington County and Southeast Arkansas Community Foundations.

Bag Check available for Marathon and Half Marathon

Course cut-off time: 7 hours
To take full advantage of all race support, full marathoners should maintain a 15-minute/mile pace. Once race support closes, participants will be asked to either leave the course or proceed at their own risk. The finish line will operate until 3:00 p.m. Traffic control, cones and aid stations will close in stages as the event progresses (some before 3PM).

Certifications and Sanctioning
The marathon is a USATF certified course #MS16003MS. The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

The Mississippi River Marathon is more than just a race. It's an unforgettable experiences full of fun, food, and Southern hospitality!

Schedule of Events

  • Friday, February 6th - Vendor Expo and Packet Pickup
    12 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    Leyser Gallery 303 Washington Ave. Greenville, MS
    The Mississippi River Marathon Expo and Packet Pick-Up will take place at the Leyser Gallery Building at 301 Washington Avenue in Greenville, MS. Packet pick-up will take place on Friday from noon to 8:00pm. For those unable to make it on Friday packet pick-up will be available for free from 5:15am to 6:00am on RACE MORNING before the buses depart at 6:30am.
  • Saturday, February 7th - Race Day
    5:15am - Packet pickup / Registration Opens.
    6:00am - Bus Loading Begins
    6:30am - ALL BUSSES DEPART!!
    8:00am - ALL RACES START!!

Awards for Full Marathon and Half Marathon ONLY

  • Top 3 Male and Female Overall
  • Top 1 Male and Female Masters (40+)
  • Top 1 Male and Female Grand Masters (50+)
  • Top 3 Male and Female in the each age group: 15 & Under (half marathon only), 16 - 19, 20 - 24, 25 - 29, 30 - 34, 35 - 39, 40 - 44, 45 - 49, 50 - 54, 55 - 59, 60 - 64, 65 - 69, 70+
  • Top 1 Half Marathon Relay Team in each division: Male Relay Female Relay Co-Ed Relay

Course Record Bonus

Any male or female breaking their perspective course record in the marathon will receive a cash bonus of $500.

Male: Scott Downward - 2:28:21 (2014)
Female: Laura Paulsen - 2:41:16.8 (2021)

Please note: While there is no ban on listening devices, the event will continue to enforce a no headphones policy for those competing for prize money.
