About the Event
Molly's Knob Challenge Extreme 5K
Join the Smyth County Chamber of Commerce for the annual Molly's Knob Challenge on Saturday, October 4th, 2025! Located in the beautiful Hungry Mother State Park, the Molly's Knob Challenge is not your average 5K! Challengers will take on the summit of Molly's Knob, gaining more than 1,000 feet elevation in the first 1.7 miles. The course is approximately 3.4 miles long, making it a longer than average race. Due to the difficult terrain, no dogs are allowed in the race.
Registration:
Pre-registration is required! Registration closes September 26th, 2025.
Early bird registration is $25 (until August 25th)
General registration is $30 (August 25th - September 26th)
Race Day:
Check-in begins at 8:00am in Parking Lot 6 in Hungry Mother State Park.
Race starts at 9:00am at the Molly's Knob trailhead.
All competitors must complete an entry waiver before participating.
