About the Event

The Mountain Fork Half Marathon is a 13.6-mile race that starts and finishes at the High Knob Observation Tower located on the Jefferson National Forest's Clinch Ranger District in Wise County, Virginia. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you loop through the Mountain Fork watershed.

About the Race

The event will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 9:00 AM. All proceeds benefit the trail development and maintenance in the Flag Rock Recreation Area.

Course Information

The race features a loop route that involves several key roads and a total elevation gain of 1,600 feet. Runners will face a range of terrains and enjoy stunning views from the highest point in the Cumberland Mountains.

Aid Stations

  • Available approximately at the 2.3-, 5-, 7.8-, and 11.5-mile markers.

Registration Details

The registration fee is $60.93 (includes taxes and fees), increasing to $66.25 after March 31, 2025.

Awards

  • Awards for top three finishers in men’s and women’s categories.
  • Finisher medals for all participants.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be held on race day from 7:30-8:30 AM at the City of Norton's Reservoir Trailhead.
