Mountaineer Rumble Half Marathon & 5K

Welcome to the Mountaineer Rumble Half Marathon Race. This event takes you through the rich history of Kings Mountain State Park and the battlefields of Kings Mountain National Military Park. The route runs through an area marked by an important American victory during the Revolutionary War.

The race features a half marathon route highlighting the National Recreation Trail (Blue Blaze). This is an out and back course with an aid station at mile 4, 6.55, and 9. Runners will enjoy beautiful views of creeks and rolling hills, with a spectacular view on Brown Mountain. The total elevation gain for the half marathon is approximately 1,800 feet over 13.1 miles.

All finishers of the half marathon will receive a custom finisher’s medal. The top three male and female finishers will receive awards. For 2023, a new 5K trail race will also be offered, showcasing views of Lake Crawford and utilizing different trails. This 5K will start ten minutes after the half marathon to reduce trail congestion.
