Be committed and start the NEW YEAR off on the right foot! Join us for a New Year's Day 5K Countdown to Race Day 00 Months 27 Days 12 Hours 58 Minutes 16 Seconds Events Ring in the New Year with us!

It's never too early to start thinking ahead! Raise your glass and ring in the New Year with us at Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery! We're starting 2026 the only way we know how, with a race! After you ring in the New Year, take a nap then come out, and join us and RUN (or walk) into the New Year! We're putting on the New Year's Day 5K at one of the most spectacular venues on the circuit! We thought it would be appropriate to kiss 2025 goodbye, and are offering the New Year's Day 5K for just $26 (and that includes a drink)! We'll have the same great course, music and an awesome Finisher Medal! We'll have shirts as an additional purchase for $25. We will be starting at 10:00 am at Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery. If you're not ready to be out and about, join us for the virtual 5K & we will ship you your swag (continental US only; lower 48 states)! Virtual participants will receive a Finisher Medal and shot at awards! Purchase your commemorative NYD 2026 shirt for just $25. We’ll also be presenting overall and age-group awards for each distance in the usual 5-year categories starting at 10 & under.

We'll be chip timing the start & finish. Click here for the map. We'll have awards in the following categories: Top 3 Overall M/F, Top 3 Masters M/F, Top Grand Master M/F, Top Senior Master M/F, Top 3 in all the usual age groups 10 & Under - 75+.

Currently the event is capped at 500 participants...so register early!

Virtual Running - How it works and Link for Time Submission

Can't make it out to the event site on race day? Missed the event cap, but still want to participate or support the cause, and have a shot at an award? Or, maybe you saw the shirt and said: "Sweet...I want one!" Then, the virtual race is for you!

• Step 1: Get excited, grab some friends and buddies to join you! Sign up, and register for the New Year's Day Virtual 5K!
• Step 2: Download your Custom Digital Bib! Hydrate, grab your buddy (or not), and get ready to get moving!
• Step 3: Get out there and run or walk! You can run at the park, your favorite route in your neighborhood; anywhere you want. Please remember to social distance & be safe!
• Step 4: HAVE FUN! Share your distance, a selfie, or a picture along your race route, and use the hashtag #NYD5K #fivestarntp
• Step 5: Submit your results directly on RunSignUp.com through your Profile page. You can submit your race time HERE on the Virtual Results page anytime from until end of day January 1st.
• Step 6: View your Virtual Results HERE Monday after the Event Date.

Groups & Teams

Grab your friends, family, co-workers, or anyone else, and bring in the New Year together. Put together a group of 10 or more, and save $2.00

Event Courtesy & Refund Policy

All registrations are final. There are no refunds, deferments, or transfers. Event will take place rain or shine. In the event of extreme weather, we will cancel for the safety of the participants...there are no refunds in this case. Participants that do not show up to race/event forfeit their right to any swag. No COVID-19 Refunds. If unforeseen circumstances arise due to COVID-19, including any Federal or State Health Emergency, refunds will not be provided. The event will go 100% Virtual & shirts will be shipped to participants.
