Old Baldy Run for the Light
The Old Baldy Run for the Light is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC. Enjoy the sweeping views while running at dusk toward the light of The Old Baldy Lighthouse. Make your participation in this race an entire day trip your whole family can enjoy! This event is perfect to showcase one of North Carolina’s most beautiful beaches and historic sites– it will be one to mark off your bucket list!
All proceeds from The Run for Light go towards the mission of The Old Baldy Foundation.

The race is on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Race Swag
Participants who register by June 30th, 2025, and attend the event are guaranteed a race shirt. All other participants can choose from remaining sizes until sold out. All 5K and 10K participants who cross the finish line receive a finisher medal. Participants also receive a swag bag (while supplies last). Participants over 21 years old will get a drink ticket.
The Course
The Run for the Light course is a scenic run near coastal dunes and through the maritime forest on Bald Head Island, NC. The whole course features an all-asphalt surface, with splits and water at the 1-, 3- and 5-mile marks. This race course is also stroller-friendly! However, dogs are not allowed on this course so please leave them at home or with a non-running spectator.

1 Mile Fun Run Awards: Top 3 Finishers
Finisher Medal: All 5K & 10K race finishers receive a medal.
The Cause
The Run for the Light is a fundraiser for The Old Baldy Foundation, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. The mission of the Old Baldy Foundation is the historic preservation and maintenance of the Old Baldy Lighthouse, North Carolina’s oldest standing lighthouse, and historical education and outreach of the rich maritime history of the Cape Fear Region.
