About the Event
Race for Rescue
The Race for Rescue, Oahu Search and Rescue’s primary fundraising event, is a 5K run held each year in October. For 2025, the course will be held at OSAR's famous proving grounds, in the heart of Kamilo Nui Valley, located just outside of Hawaii Kai. This stunning race course winds its way up into the valley and through dense forest before looping back down to the start/finish line.
OSAR relies on this event to fund the organization for the next year, covering costs like insurance, technical rescue gear, and educational supplies. This year there will be two different events:
- The RACE for RESCUE 5K will be held on October 25th at the OSAR Training Grounds in Hawaii Kai. Enjoy the amazing scenery while you run/walk a 5K out and back. Unlike previous years, the main race course is not stroller-friendly. A slightly shorter, flatter course will also be offered.
- The VIRTUAL 5K can be run anytime between October 1st and October 25th, anywhere in the world. Simply run/walk 5k and upload your time to the race website.
