Wolf River Trails

The Samar 4 and 8 miler will be held on the Wolf River Trails, the same trails used for the Mamba 100 race. The trails are mostly single track, flat and very runnable. This race is for the very beginner runner to the most experienced. There will be generous cut off times and you'll be guaranteed a good time. This is the perfect race tune-up to head into the fall races.

Packet Pickup

Race Information

• You are welcome to bring a bag of your own drinks and food and leave it at the Start / Finish line Aid Station.
• No electricity here. We will be running off a generator.
• Bathrooms will be Porta Potty only. We will have several set up in the parking lot area.
• Please line up behind the start line by 6:45am. We will give pre-race announcements, and send you off to some great music playing.
• If you are picking up your bib on race morning, please arrive by 6:15-6:30.
• The gates to the parking lot will open around 5:30am. Our crew will be busy setting up timing, music, and other needs for the race.
• All flags and signage will be on your right. We will mark with orange ribbon and place orange ground flags around critical turns.
• The loop will be a 4 mile loop. The 4 milers will run it 1 time and the 8 milers will run it twice.
• The only Aid Station will be for the 8 milers and this is at mile 4, which is the Start/Finish line Aid Station.
• 4 milers, if you need water, then please carry a hydration flask or vest.
• 8 milers, if you need more water besides the 4 mile mark, then please carry a hydration flask or vest.
• The race is cupless so please plan accordingly.

We will give out Top 3 Male / Female, and Age Group Awards. We are excited to announce that Breakaway Running Store is giving out the Age Group Awards. The 4 mile winners will be announced first, then we will announce the 8 mile winners after that. We will announce winners as soon as we can, but it might be 30 minutes to an hour after your race, depending on when you finish.

• Please bring your own lawn chair. There is no seating here besides sitting on the ground.
• The Aid Station will have plenty of water and trail snack foods for your race. After your race, we will have soft drinks, donuts, ice-cold cooling towel, watermelon, and other trail snack foods.
• We encourage you to take a selfie or group photo with our Cobra Den backdrop banner. Tag us on FB or IG so we can see all the great start and finish pics.
• Road Shoes are fine to wear if the trails are dry. These trails are flatter than the Tour de Wolf Trails
• The race is chip timed so please wear your bib on your front. If you don't wear your bib, then you may not receive a time. We write your bib number down when you cross the finish line as a back up for our timing.

RV Campground

The Samar 4 & 8 miler has plenty of RV camping at the RV Park at Agricenter International. Within walking distance to the start line, the RV Park offers sites with sewer, 30-amp & 50-amp electrical hook-ups, water, dump station, restrooms, shower, and laundry facilities. The RV Park at Agricenter is the perfect location if you plan on bringing or renting an RV for the race. The main car parking area for the race is right across the street from the RV campground.

Refunds

There are no refunds in each race or series of the Cobra Den Trail Races. Money has already been spent reserving the park trails, parking, porta pottys, food, etc. There are no roll-over credits to another race.

Weather

The race will be held in the summer months and Memphis is very hot and humid. Each race will start at 7am. Caution is required when running these races. Memphis also experiences summertime storms and these can be short-lived or very damaging. The RD has the right to postpone or cancel the race due to weather. We will do everything we can to get the race in at 7 am but safety of runners are our #1 priority.

Parking

There are only 60 paved parking spots at the Wolf River Refuge Trailhead and they will fill up quick. Additional parking will be in the grass at the back of the parking lot and on the sides. If parking in the grass behind the parking lot, please back in so your car is ready to drive out when you leave. This will allow us to park the most amount of cars here. If you can commute with another runner, then that will help with parking.

There are many restaurants packed up and down Germantown Parkway

Breakaway Running Store

- located on Germantown Parkway is very close to the trails.

Things to do:

Visit Shelby Farms Park. The trails that the Mamba race and Cobra Den Trail Series are ran on are part of Shelby Farms Park. The park is huge covering 4,500 acres and is one of the largest urban parks in the country. There are over 40 miles of trails both paved and unpaved and over 20 lakes. The park is also home to a herd of buffalo that you can see while walking the trails. www.shelbyfarmspark.org is the website so check out all there is to do here. The trails are open to the public during the day so not only will you see runners but you'll see people walking the trails or riding their bike.
