About Us And Our Mission

The SnakeTail Mission: Running for Conservation

Swan Conservation Trust is a passionate, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to protecting and preserving the breathtaking natural landscapes of the Western Highland Rim. As an all-volunteer organization, we work tirelessly to safeguard the headwaters of Big Swan and Big Bigsby Creeks, ensuring their lush forests, pristine springs, and diverse wildlife remain intact for future generations. We are thrilled to host our annual trail running event, bringing together runners and nature enthusiasts for a one-of-a-kind experience. This race is more than just a challenge—it’s a celebration of nature, fitness, and conservation. Participants will run through scenic woodlands, cross sparkling creeks, and traverse rolling ridgelines, fully immersing themselves in the beauty we strive to protect. All proceeds from this event will go directly toward:

  • Expanding the Big Swan Headwaters Preserve through land acquisitions, partnerships, and easements.
  • Maintaining, marking, and building new trails for access.
  • Preserving vital wildlife habitats and ensuring the long-term health of local ecosystems.

By running with us, you’re not just exploring the magic of Big Swan Creek’s forests and waterways—you’re becoming a champion for their protection. Every step you take brings us closer to a sustainable future for these treasured lands. Join us on this incredible journey to run, connect, and make a lasting impact.
