Welcome to the Strolling Jim 40 Miler, taking place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 7:00 AM. This iconic ultra-marathon has been a staple in the running community since 1979, founded by Gary Cantrell, also known as Lazarus Lake. Runners from all over come to enjoy the scenic beauty of Bedford County, Tennessee, and to participate in one of the most competitive road ultras in the United States.
On Friday, May 2, participants can pick up their packets and register late from 3 PM to 6:30 PM at 101 Spring Street, Wartrace, TN. A pre-race feed will be available from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. On race day, late packet pickup will occur from 5:30 AM to 6:30 AM, followed by the race start at 7:00 AM.
The Strolling Jim 40 Miler course takes runners through the picturesque streets of Wartrace and Bell Buckle, offering a unique blend of community spirit and competitive running. Aid stations will be available throughout the course, providing water, hydration drinks, and snacks.
All finishers will receive a medal, and awards will be given to top performers. Join us for a post-race BBQ chicken dinner and festivities under the big tent.
Camping is allowed at nearby parks, and various lodging options are available in the area. Make sure to plan your stay early!
We look forward to seeing you at the Strolling Jim 40 Miler!
