About The FAB 5K

The FAB 5K is an annual event that brings together community members and FAB participants for a 5K run or walk. The event is designed to inspire participants to dream big and live big. The 5K course runs along the beautiful Hamilton Beach Strip, starting and ending at the Edgewater Pavilion in Confederation Park. The event also serves as a key fundraiser for the FAB Foundation's free and empowering FAB 5K Challenge program.

About our FAB Program

Every spring, FAB offers a free program to over 165 youth girls in Hamilton's priority neighborhoods. The program challenges participants to train for and finish a 5K run, meeting weekly with volunteer coaches for training, fun, and skill-building. The program culminates with FAB participants completing The FAB 5K.

How you can support

• Register and participate in the 5K walk/run or 1K fun run. Strollers are welcome.
• Start a personal fundraising page and ask your circle to give. Raising $200 or more reimburses your entry fee; raising $500 or more enters you into a grand prize draw.
• Make a donation to FAB or a runner's personal fundraising page.
• Create a team when you register and invite others to join. Teams raising $1,000 are entered into the grand prize draw.

What your participation will support

All money raised will help offer the program to approximately 165 youth girls in Hamilton annually at no cost to them. Each participant receives running shoes, a training t-shirt, healthy snacks, a goal-setting journal, and transportation/entry into local races.

Route Information

The course is mostly flat, running along Lake Ontario. It starts at Edgewater Pavilion, heads towards the lake path, turns right, follows to a turnaround before a wooden bridge (approx. 1.2km), turns left, follows the path back past Edgewater Pavilion to a second turnaround (approx. 2.4km), turns left, and heads back to Edgewater Pavilion (approx. 1.2km), finishing with a right turn into the pavilion.

Same day registration is available on Saturday morning beginning at 8:30am. Cash or credit card payments will be accepted.

Access and Parking

Entrance into Confederation Park is free. There is a large, free parking lot past the Edgewater Pavilion on the left-hand side.

Registration fees

Prices are inclusive of mandatory charges, items, and fees. Participants who raise more than $200 in pledges will be reimbursed their registration fee following the event. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. An online registration service fee will be applied.
