The Fools Run 5K & 10K

Race Info

The Fools Run 5K & 10K is on Saturday April 4, 2026. It includes the following events: 10K, 5K, 10K Students/ Military (ID will be required), 5K Students/ Military (ID will be required), and Kids 1-Mile Run (10 and under).

Location: Margaritaville Beach Resort, South Padre Island, TX 78597

Come and Fool around with us on the best beach in Texas for a 2-Day event! We encourage you to bring your family and friends and dress up in your most foolish costume as you tackle the 5k and/or Chip Timed 10K course! A portion of proceeds will be benefiting Walk for Women, Inc. a non-profit organization that benefits women in the lower Rio Grande Valley by providing financial, prosthetic and diagnostic support as they battle breast cancer.

Hydration stations will be provided on site at Margaritaville, as well as, at the halfway points on the race course on the beach. Award ceremonies and live music entertainment will be held immediately following the race/walk at Margaritaville Beach Resort!

RACE COURSE:

10K (6.2 miles): Starts and ends on the beach at Margaritaville Beach Resort on South Padre Island. This will be a chip-timed course. You have the option to walk and/or run.

5K (3.1 miles): This course starts and ends on the beach at Margaritaville Beach Resort on South Padre Island. THIS IS NOT A RACE. IT IS A PARTICIPATION WALK. If you’d like, you have the option to also jog and/or run.

Kids 1 Mile: Starts and ends on the beach at Margaritaville Beach Resort.

AWARDS & PRESENTATIONS:

Medals will be given to the overall 1st male and female winners as well as 1st through 3rd place winners in each male and female age division of the 10K. In addition, the overall top male and female winners will receive a special prize! ALL PARTICIPANTS CROSSING THE FINISH LINES WILL RECEIVE FINISHER MEDALS. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their most “foolish” costume for a chance to win a sweet prize for “best costume”!

• Late Registration (after 3.01.2025): $45 (10K Run), $40 (5K Walk), $40 (10K Students/Military), $35 (5K Students/Military)
• On-Site Late Registration (April 4th, 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM): $50 (10K Run), $45 (5K Walk), $45 (10K Students/Military), $40 (5K Students/Military)
• On-Site Late Registration (April 5th, 6:30 AM – 7:00 AM): $50 (10K Run), $45 (5K Walk), $45 (10K Students/Military), $40 (5K Students/Military)

• 1:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Packet Pickup, Late Registration, Wellness Fair
• 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Live Music, Complimentary Margarita voucher (21+), Hors d'œuvres

Saturday April 5, 2025

• 7:30 AM: 10K run starts/ends on the beach
• 7:45 AM: 5K walk and Kids 1 Mile starts/ends on the beach
• 9:15 AM: Awards & Costume Contest
