About the Event
The Gauntlet Paddle Race
Date: Saturday, November 8, 2025
Location: Old Cahawba Archaeological Park, 9518 Cahaba Rd, Orrville, AL 36767
This is an exciting out and back paddle race that starts and ends at the confluence of the Lower Cahaba River and the Alabama River. Participants will paddle upstream on the Lower Cahaba to a turnaround point before racing back, making it a true test against the gentle river current and fellow racers.
Race Options
- 10 Mile Race starts at 7:00 AM
- 20 Mile Race starts at 8:00 AM
Categories
Each category can be solo or tandem, male or female. They include:
- Canoe
- Surfski
- Kayak
- Rec Kayak (sit on top)
- SUP Hardboard
- SUP Inflatable
- OC
Registration Fees
20 Mile Race: $75 per racer
10 Mile Race: $50 per racer
All participants receive race swag and a finisher item, with top performers receiving additional recognition and prizes.
Prizes
Overall winners and runners-up will receive cash prizes based on entries in each category, making it an exciting competition for all participants.
