Wensley's Cycles Surf to City 2026

Join us for Southland’s favourite participation event. The scenic start is at Oreti Beach, with two shorter options available, leading to a vibrant finish line experience in Queens Park. This event is accessible, affordable, and inclusive, suitable for the whole family whether you choose to walk, run, bike, scoot, or push a pram.

The Wensley’s Cycles Surf to City is a great way to get active as a family, workplace, club, group, or with friends. It caters to participants of all ages with options for running, biking, or walking across three different distances:

• Wensley’s Cycles 12 km category
• ILT Foundation 6 km category (starting in Otatara)
• Active Southland 3 km category (starting in Bond St)
• iAM 1.5 km inclusive event (free to enter, open to all ages and abilities, run, walk or wheel around Queens Park)

Surf to City is proud to be part of this year's Southland Community Challenge, raising money for Hospice Southland, Kiwi Harvest Southland, and The Grace Street Project. Donations can be made through the registrations page or the Southland Community Challenge website.

Event details and schedule

Number Collection: Race numbers must be collected from the Active Southland office at ILT Stadium Southland, Invercargill by 3pm on Saturday 7th March. Numbers can be collected from Monday 16th February (8:30 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday) and 10 am - 3 pm Saturday 7th March.

Start times:

• 12km: Be at Oreti Beach by 9:15 am
• 6km: Be at the corner of Marama Ave South & Stead St by 10 am.
• 3km: Be at Marshall Industries, Bond St by 10:15 am.
• 2km: Be at the Herbet St entrance to Queens Park by 10:45 am.

Transport and Parking: Roads are closed to traffic for this event. Refer to the information sheet for your event for parking information. Shuttle buses run from The Pantry and Feldwick Gates, Queens Park. The bus timetable will be on the Surf to City website closer to the time.
