Event Details

Join Finding The Fells for an exhilarating trail run exploring the stunning landscape of Mam Tor, The Great Ridge, and Peveril Castle. Our experienced guide will lead you along this scenic route, showcasing the beauty of the Dark Peak.

Ideal for:

Any runners capable of running the full distance (this event isn't aimed at beginner runners). Pace will be sociable with plenty of pausing to admire the views.

Distance & Elevation:

8.3 miles / 1,500ft

Terrain:

Flagstones, compacted dirt, mud, wet rock. Possibility of winter conditions due to time of year.

Required Kit:

  • Off road/grippy running shoes essential
  • Buff, waterproof jacket, snacks, water, and any personal medications
  • Extra long sleeve layer and hat/gloves advised
  • If weather requires it, microspikes/yaktraks may be wise

Route Description:

Starting from Blue John Cavern, we’ll head up to the summit of Mam Tor via its western staircase. Then we’ll follow the Great Ridge eastward down to Hollin’s Cross before a steep climb to Back Tor. Finally, we will head downhill into Castleton before circling back to the start via Peveril Castle.

Meeting Information:

Meeting at 8:45 am. Plenty of parking should be available at this time by Blue John Cavern or on Sheffield Road. Meeting point is at the small cafe hut/bus stop outside Blue John Cavern.
