York 38 Special

Race Info

The York 38 Special is an annual fundraiser for the volunteer fire department, featuring multiple cycling race options through scenic mountain terrain. The event includes spectacular scenery through the Big Belt Mountains, with incredible mountain overlooks, rugged canyons, and creek crossings.

Race Options:

• York 38 Special - Trout Creek: 38 miles on gravel and dirt single track roads, gaining at least 3,000 vertical feet, including the Trout Creek Canyon single track route.
• York 38 Special - Bear Trap: 38 miles on gravel and dirt single track roads, gaining at least 3,000 vertical feet, with an extra 1,000 feet climb on rugged single track and a 2,000 feet drop back onto York Road.
• Spirit of 76 Cyclocross: Two loops around the Trout Creek route for a total of 76 miles.
• Lucky 13 Family Bike Ride: A moderate "out and back" route to Vigilante Campground, approximately half paved.
• York 38 Special Virtual Ride, Run or Walk: Complete any 38-mile stretch virtually and submit times.

Start Times:

• Spirit of 76 and York 38 Special (Trout Creek & Bear Trap): Start between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM MDT.
• Lucky 13 Family Bike Ride: Start between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM MDT.

Six aid stations with volunteers and emergency medical personnel are available throughout the course.

Virtual Race Details: Racers must submit times by August 14th. A "combo race" option is available for multi-talented athletes combining multiple disciplines.
