Event Details

The Breaking Dawn Run/Walk is a fundraising event for the Dawn Busters Kiwanis Club, benefiting "Rewards for Reading" and "Scholarship Grant fund" programs.

Location: Lafreniere Park, Metairie, 3000 Downs Blvd., Metairie, La. Enter Park via Downs Blvd. / Veterans Blvd.

Time Schedule:

• 7:30 am - Registration and Packet Pickup opens
• 8:30 am – Start Kid's Dash (@ 1/4 mile)
• 8:45 am – Start Breaking Dawn 5K Run/Walk
• 10:00 am - Award presentations

Entry Fees:

• $25.00 - Inaugural Event Entry fee thru December 15th
• $30.00 - by January 10th
• $35.00 – by January 31st
• $40.00 – Day of Race - Feb 1st
• Youth/Seniors (17 under or 65-over): $20.00 – Inaugural Event entry fee thru Dec 15th; $30.00 – Thru January 31st, Day of Race $40.00

Packet Pickup Details:

• Pre-Race Day: Fleet Feet-Metairie (3020 Severn Avenue) Thursday, January 29, 2026 (3 pm – 6 pm)
• Day of Race: Sunday, February 1st at the race site opening at 7:30 am

Awards:

• Custom Finisher Medallions for all registered finishers.
• Overall and Age Division Awards for Breaking Dawn 5K (1st Overall Open, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Male and Female; Age divisions 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place).
• Race Walker Division: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Male and Female.
• Kids Dash Awards - TBA

Refreshments:

Available to registered entrants only, including water, Gatorade, snacks, fruit, beer, and breakfast burritos.
