The Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run and Walk is back for 2025—and it’s wilder than ever! Join us on Saturday, September 27th for a family-friendly race that supports a fantastic cause. This year, all funds raised will go toward creating a fully accessible playground at the zoo, so every child can enjoy the fun.

Choose your pace and your distance—1km or 5km, walk or run—and don’t forget to wear your best animal costume! Whether you come as a lion, lemur, or lovebird, there are prizes for best costumes and plenty of smiles along the way. With only 500 spots available, make sure to register early and help us make this year’s event a roaring success! 🐾

COURSE DESCRIPTION & RACE DAY SUMMARY

Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run & Walk – Race Day Summary

The race starts and finishes at Riverview Park & Zoo in Peterborough, following an out-and-back course that’s safe and fully contained within zoo property—perfect for runners and walkers of all ages! Both the 1K and 5K races will be chip timed, so you can track your pace while enjoying the scenic, animal-filled surroundings.

With both 1K and 5K options, race pickup begins at 7:00 AM at the Rotary Education Centre. The 1K race kicks off at 8:15 AM, followed by the 5K at 9:00 AM. Every participant will receive a buff, with additional awards for top finishers in both distances. Plus, the top three fundraisers will win special prizes! Animal-themed costumes are strongly encouraged, with fun prizes for the best-dressed participants —so come as your favourite feathered, furry, or scaly friend! Lace up, dress up, and get ready to move for a great cause!

Online registration closes Friday, September 26th at noon. To register in-person, and for advance Race Kit pickup, please visit the Riverview Park and Zoo Rotary Education Centre, 1300 Water St:

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

REFRESHMENTS Light snacks of apples and granola bars will be provided post-race. Water wagon will be on site to refill your re-usable water bottle. Coffee will also be provided.

WASHROOMS & PARKING Both washrooms and parking are available on site but limited. Please note that it will be a busy day at the Riverview Park & Zoo - please carpool, take the bus, walk or ride your bike if you can.
