Strides for Scholars: 5K and Kids 1K Halloween Fun Run

Join us on October 26th at Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island for a fun, Halloween-themed run supporting scholarships for girls in Kenya! Hosted by PETRI, a Mercer Island High School student club partnered with SeaVuria, a 501c(3) nonprofit, this event raises funds to keep students in school and expand access to STEM education. 100% of proceeds go directly to our scholars in Taita-Taveta, Kenya.

Events:

• Kids Trick-or-Treat Style 1K: $30, 9:30AM - 9:50AM PDT. Registration ends October 20, 2025 at 11:59pm PDT
• 5K Fun Run: $45, 10:00AM - 12:00PM PDT. Registration ends October 20, 2025 at 11:59pm PDT
• Virtual 5K Fun Run: $35. Registration ends October 25, 2025 at 11:59pm PDT

Why You Can't Miss Out: Coffee Cart, Kids 1K Trick-or-Treat stops, KMIH DJ, awards, Kenyan Donuts, Islander newspaper, Police Department on-site.

Get in the Spirit of Halloween: All participants are encouraged to wear costumes.

Kids 1K Details: Race down the trails at Luther Burbank Park, collecting Halloween goodies. Bring a bag/bucket.

Parking: Luther Burbank Park has two parking lots (South Lot and North Lot). Overflow parking at Mercer Island Community Center.

Location/Time/Bib Pick-Up: Luther Burbank Park, Mercer Island, WA. Kids 1K: 9:30 AM, 5K Fun Run: 10:00 AM. Check-in at 8:30 AM.

Day of Registration: $55 for 5K, $35 for Kids 1K. Registration and check-in begin at 8:30 AM.

Course Map Details: 5K map available online. Kids 1K follows part of the 5K map.
