Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 9:00 AM and join us for the 8th Annual 5K & 1-Mile Walk benefiting the Kansas School for the Blind and the Kansas City Blind All Stars Foundation. This family-friendly event brings together runners, walkers, students, alumni, and supporters for a powerful day of community, celebration, and impact. Choose between the timed 5K run or the 1-mile walk — all while helping enhance programs and opportunities for blind and visually impaired youth. Participants will experience the Kansas School for the Blind campus, enjoy live music, local food trucks, and a morning filled with purpose.

Virtual Walk/Run

Not local? Booked that weekend? No problem. Support the mission from anywhere in the country. Complete your walk or run on your own time, in your own community, while still making a meaningful difference. All virtual participants receive a race t-shirt and medal by mail (or may pick up during packet pickup). Register by September 1, 2026 to guarantee your shirt arrives before race day.

Food Trucks & Community Celebration

Stick around after the race to celebrate impact with us! We’ll have local food trucks on-site so you can enjoy great food while supporting a great cause. More details coming soon.

Medals for Every Participant! Every registered participant will receive a commemorative race medal as a thank-you for supporting the Kansas School for the Blind and the KC Blind All Stars Foundation.

• Race Day Pickup:

• 🏅 Medals will be awarded at the finish line

Guaranteed T-Shirt Deadline: 📅 Register by September 1, 2026 at midnight to guarantee your race t-shirt. Due to production timelines, participants who register after September 1 will still receive a race medal; however, t-shirt sizes and availability cannot be guaranteed.

Virtual Participants:

Participating from out of town? We’ve got you covered! Your race shirt and medal will be mailed to you — or you may choose to pick them up during packet pickup.

Packet Pick-up and Parking

Parking for Race Day
Staff will be onsite to assist with parking. After campus parking is full participants will be directed to park on-street. Streets north of campus (Washington, Everett, 12th) will be utilized.

Race Day Schedule

• 7:30 AM – On-site registration & packet pick-up opens
• 8:30 AM – Announcements
• 8:45 AM – Packet pick-up closes
• 8:50 AM – Welcome remarks & National Anthem
• 8:55 AM – Participants line up (runners first, followed by walkers)
• 9:00 AM – Race begins! 🏁
• 10:30 AM – Race course closes
• 11:00 AM – Tear-down & event concludes
