This event lasts 7 hours and 30 minutes with a start at 242 St./Broadway at Van Courtlandt Park and a finish at Tarrytown, NY - MetroNorth Train Station.
Distance: 15 miles
Terrain: City streets, some hills, and softer ground along the OCA rail trail.
Transit: Take the subway to 242/Broadway. There is some free street parking in the Bronx for those who prefer to drive. You can also park at Tarrytown Train Station and carpool back to the start.
Difficulty: Moderate, with a pace of about 3-3.5 mph. The end time is approximately 5 PM, which may vary depending on the group.
What to bring: Pack your lunch and drinks. Dress appropriately for the weather—light clothes, hat, and sunblock are recommended. If you have a FreeWalker bib from a past event, please wear it on your pack.
This is a one-way walk with a picnic break at the magnificent Untermeyer Gardens. Afterward, we continue through quaint neighborhoods to the OCA trail and arrive in Tarrytown with a brief stroll on the Mario Cuomo Bridge, offering a fantastic view of the Hudson River.
Ensure you arrange for your own transportation back to the start. MetroNorth from Tarrytown will take you back to Grand Central or further north.
